What’s Easier For Beginners: Baking Or Cooking?

The culinary arts are vast, complicated, and seemingly endless—so starting from the beginning can seem a little bit overwhelming. Cooking Is Easier

The most basic answer, in our humblest of opinions, is that cooking is easier for beginners than baking. The reason we feel this way is that cooking offers a lot more leeway when it comes to adding ingredients. Baking, however, is a lot more precise and unforgiving if you get something wrong.

In musical terms, cooking is like jazz, and baking is like classical music. In jazz, if you play a wrong note, you can just pretend it was on purpose. Not so much with classical music.

The One Exception

There is, however, one exception to our thesis that cooking is easier. Not-from-scratch cakes. Baking is normally harder UNLESS you decide to use a not-from-scratch cake mix, such as Duncan Hines or Pillsbury. The ingredients here still require true precision, but it’s that much more simple that even a child could do it.
