One great thing about pizza is its versatility. Be creative enough and you could invent something completely new that counts as pizza but is actually a whole new dish. Just take a look at Chicago-style pizza. Someone got the idea to bake pizza in a pan and now we live in a world where some people actually clash on whether deep-dish pizza or regular pizza is better.

Thanks to TikTok, we recently found out that there is one new dish that is making waves and trying to establish itself as a part of the pizza world. It’s Vietnamese pizza and it looks quite tempting and it’s super easy to make.

Vietnamese pizza doesn’t use pizza dough or dough at all, for that matter. Instead, you take rice paper, put your toppings on, fry it in a pan, and dig in. The dish has been popular on TikTok for a while now, with several users sharing recipes for those unable to hop to Vietnam and try the original version.

As it turns out, Vietnamese pizza isn’t a new creation. It is a Vietnamese street food staple called Bánh Tráng Nướng. The base of the dish is a flat and round rice cracker that is splashed with some oil and covered with eggs, meats, veggies, and cheese. Various sauces can be added, but the most common condiments include ketchup and mayo.
