Until a year ago, millions of young people around the world rarely thought about cooking. Eating out was convenient and a great way to socialize, but it suddenly became impossible when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We had to adapt quickly and making our own food was a big part of the change. Luckily, new recipes and cooking tips started appearing in the most convenient places: social media.

TikTok is one of the most popular social platforms right now and since it has so many users, it’s understandable that it covers many different types of content. Over the past year or so, cooking tips and convenient recipes have been very popular as young people are learning how to make their own food at home. We could even say that TikTok made cooking cool, and the word “cooking” here has a wide meaning.

From quick and healthy smoothie/oatmeal recipes to comfort foods like pasta and potato dishes, TikTokers have everything you need to feed yourself until the restaurants are open again, or indefinitely if you want. If you think of it as a fun challenge and a useful thing you can use to pass time, cooking can quickly get under your skin and become a habit you won’t get rid of easily.
