If you’re planning a sushi night sometime soon, and want to have the full sushi experience, we recommend whipping up some miso soup to go along with your meal. It does require a few specialized ingredients that you might have to go to a specific store for, but it actually isn’t that hard to make at all, and it packs so much punch in such a simple recipe. Check out how to make it below.
Ingredients:
- Dashi, which is a type of stock used for making miso soup
- Water
- Miso paste
- Silken tofu (it’s important you use the silken kind, so be sure to double-check the tofu package)
- Green onions
Instructions:
- Fill a pot with enough water to make the amount of soup you want and put it on medium-high heat.
- Add the dashi and combine it with a whisk. Bring to a boil.
- While it’s boiling, create a slurry with your miso paste in some water, using a whisk to break up the miso paste.
- Once the dashi water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium and add in your miso slurry.
- Stir in the silken tofu.
- Slice your green onions diagonally into half-inch pieces and stir them into the soup.
- Simmer for a few more minutes. Serve hot.
