The post 3 Ways to Use Up Leftover Pickle Juice appeared first on foodisinthehouse.com.
]]>Pickle juice makes an excellent marinade for all kinds of meats, poultry, or even tofu. The acidity in pickle juice helps tenderize the protein, while the salt and any spices will infuse it with a unique, tangy flavor. To use pickle juice as a marinade, toss it with a little garlic and your favorite herbs and spices, then soak your protein in the mixture for at least 30 minutes or overnight before cooking.
While using pickle juice to make salad dressings may sound unusual, the flavor profile of pickle juice is actually quite similar to capers, which are commonly sprinkled over salads or blended into dressings for a salty bite. To make your own pickle salad dressing, mix three parts olive oil with one part pickle juice along with some Dijon mustard, minced garlic, honey, and a little salt and pepper. The juice will serve as a replacement for vinegar to brighten up all kinds of veggies and pasta.
If you prefer savory to sweet and tend to go for dry drinks over sweet, fruity ones, play around with using leftover pickle juice to make fun pickle-flavored cocktails. One example is the famous Pickleback shot, which involves taking a shot of whiskey followed by a shot of pickle juice as a chaser. You can also try creating your own, such as by mixing pickle juice into a Bloody Mary or Martini.

]]>Don’t be intimidated by the name—because this trend is the opposite of intimidating. Flexitarianism, or semi-vegetarianism, is a diet that is primarily plant-based but allows for occasional meat consumption. Many people are adopting this approach to eating for health and environmental reasons. This trend has led to an increase in plant-based meat alternatives and vegetarian options on menus.
There is a growing awareness of the impact of food production on the environment, and many people are seeking out sustainably sourced and locally produced foods. Restaurants and food companies are responding by offering more locally sourced and sustainable options, such as seafood and fresh produce.
Comfort food has always been popular, but chefs are putting their own spin on classic dishes. Mac and cheese with lobster or truffle oil, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, and elevated versions of chicken and waffles are just a few examples of this trend.

Over the last few years, there has been a breakaway from sugar as an ingredient. That is expected to become more intense in 2023 with alternative sweeteners like maple sugar and coconut sugar likely to pop up in recipes and restaurants.
Lovers of Vietnamese food can rejoice as Southeast Asian cuisine is expected to be a big thing this year. You can also expect food from other countries like Singapore, Indonesia, and The Philippines to be popular.

]]>Cutting out carbs is super hard. If bread is something you have been craving on your low-carb eating plan, TikTok is here to help. Cloud bread requires only three ingredients—eggs, sugar, and cornstarch—to create a light, fluffy “bread” that kind of jiggles. And because this is TikTok, people have also added food coloring to make it as aesthetic as possible.
A new spin on the charcuterie board, these will satisfy you as a butter lover or turn you into one. They involve spreading softened butter on a board and adding whatever toppings you like. They range from figs to flowers, micro herbs to honey. Get some crusty bread and indulge.
We all love sushi, but not all of us have the time (or skill) to make it. Enter the deconstructed version known as a salmon rice bowl. It involves combining cooked salmon (leftovers work wonderfully), rice, soy sauce, sriracha, and kewpie mayonnaise, and then scooping it up with dried seaweed sheets.

If you love baking and flowers in equal measure, Pinterest’s rising “wildflours” trend is about to become your next obsession. According to their data, botanical baked goods will be going stronger than ever in 2023, from daisy, wildflower, and sage green cupcakes to purple floral cakes.
It’s pretty much impossible to find a list of food and drink trends that doesn’t feature mocktails, and Pinterest users love it as much as the rest of us. Non-alcoholic booze is all the rage on this social media platform, but so are cocktail garnishes and creative cocktail presentations.
