2023 is officially underway, which means we have 12 months’ worth of food trends to look forward to. Last year certainly had its fair share of unusual bites, from butter boards to pink sauce, and we’re sure that 2023 won’t disappoint. In conjunction with the American Culinary Federation, the National Restaurant Association has released its 2023 What’s Hot Culinary Forecast. Here is what you can expect.

Chicken Sandwiches

Chicken sandwiches have been around for a long time, so no one is inventing the wheel. Yet, there are ways to elevate the humble dish that will make it one to watch this year. Spicy sandwiches are on the agenda, as are those that are fried, so break out the sriracha or jalapeños.

Alternative Sweeteners

Over the last few years, there has been a breakaway from sugar as an ingredient. That is expected to become more intense in 2023 with alternative sweeteners like maple sugar and coconut sugar likely to pop up in recipes and restaurants.

Southeast Asian

Lovers of Vietnamese food can rejoice as Southeast Asian cuisine is expected to be a big thing this year. You can also expect food from other countries like Singapore, Indonesia, and The Philippines to be popular.
