Lemon pepper seasoning is a do-it-all kitchen staple. From grilled chicken to artichokes to fish, the slightly spicy and citrusy flavor that lemon pepper seasoning gives to dishes is incredibly versatile and pleasant.

While many companies sell pre-made lemon pepper seasoning in stores, the best option for a delicious seasoning is to make it yourself at home. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to do at all! Here’s how to make it in fewer than 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 5 lemons
  • 6 tablespoons black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons salt

Instructions

  • First, preheat your oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Start off by zesting the peels of the five lemons that you have, after washing them, of course. Put the fine zest in a bowl.
  • After this, take your 6 tablespoons of black peppercorns and grind them using whatever method you have handy. You can use a mortar and pestle or a pepper grinder, but be sure that they are sufficiently ground. Add them to the bowl.
  • Next, take two tablespoons of salt (preferably sea salt) and add them to the same bowl. Mix the lemon zest, pepper, and salt thoroughly until combined.
  • Spread the lemon pepper mixture on a tray which has been lined with aluminum foil and place into the oven. Allow to bake for 20-25 minutes, or until you see that the lemon peel has been dehydrated.
  • Your lemon pepper seasoning is now ready to be enjoyed!
