Learn the Proper Way of Grilling every Cut of Steak

Grilling the perfect steak can be quite intimidating. This is especially true when you realize that different cuts require different methods and timings for grilling. In reality, though, it’s a lot easier and much faster to grill steaks than it is to grill chicken.

To do this, you must know whether you’re using direct or indirect heat. The former means you’re grilling over a direct heat source. The latter means you’re grilling to the side of your heat source. Usually, it’s better to grill steak using direct heat.

It’s also important to know the temperature of your steak so using a meat thermometer is key. Finally, here are some grilling tips for you to achieve a medium-rare cook for every cut:

  1. Grill a flank steak for about 4-6 minutes each side.
  2. Grill a skirt steak for about 3-5 minutes each side.
  3. Grill a rib-eye steak for about 4-6 minutes each side.
  4. Grill a filet mignon for about 5 to 6 minutes each side.
  5. Grill a sirloin steak for about 4-5 minutes each side.
  6. Grill a tri-tip steak for about 5 minutes each side, then about 7-10 minutes each side over indirect heat.
  7. Grill a hanger steak for about 5 minutes each side, then about 2 minutes each side over indirect heat.
  8. Grill a strip steak for about 6 minutes each side.
