Learn How to Make Your Favorite Coffee Drinks at Home

With many cafes and coffee shops closed, you probably miss your cappuccino or latte and are wondering how to make these drinks yourself. This guide will teach you how to become your own barista so you can brew, froth, and flavor coffee like a pro.

The first step is to brew a good cup of strong coffee and make sure you use quality coffee beans.

Espresso

Macchiatos, cappuccinos, and lattes all use espresso. Espresso is made by using the pressure from steam to force water through the grounds. This results in a rich and intense coffee. To mimic the characteristics of an espresso, you can make your regular brew on the stronger side and you can add a pinch of instant espresso powder to your brew before you turn it into your preferred drink.

Steamed Milk

A milk steamer or frother is great to have for cappuccinos or lattes, but it’s not necessary. If you don’t have one, pour some milk into a jar, no more than halfway full, and add a couple of pinches of sugar. Seal and shake the jar for thirty seconds and remove the lid and put it in the microwave for thirty seconds.

Flavored Coffee

At coffee shops, flavored coffees are made with pumps of thick syrups. But at home, you can use syrups like hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, or chocolate or extracts like vanilla, hazelnut, almond, peppermint, or coconut.
