We all love cooking, but let’s be real—it’s not always easy to get things popping when we’re not in our place of comfort. When we’re at home, and we have our pots, and our pans, and our dishes, and our scrubbies, we’re ready to go. We’ve got everything we need and we know where to find it. But when we’re out on the road we’re at a major disadvantage—so can you really cook when you’re out traveling?

Yes, But You Have To Want It

You can cook when you’re traveling, but you have to really want it. There are cheap cooking utensils that you can buy in various stores when you’re traveling, but let’s be real: who wants to go out shopping for pots and pans when they’re in a foreign country? But if you happen to love cooking, and all you want to do when you’re traveling in another country is to cook new food, then by all means go for it!

Stay Away From Restaurants

Another reason you have to really want it is because it can be alluring to try every restaurant in the foreign country you’re staying at. You can be very much intoxicated by all these new places up to the point where cooking is pretty much a non-factor. This is actually the case for a lot of travelers, because everyone’s there on vacation time and want to treat them themselves to all kinds of fun eateries that they’ve never seen before. So to answer your question: yes, cooking can be done on the road—if you truly want to make it happen.
