After eating a spicy Indian meal, a mango lassi is your best friend.

The cool, creamy, mango-based treat is like the best version of a smoothie that you could ever imagine. Although typically drunk in India in the warm summer months, this beverage can be enjoyed at any time of the year. It’s the perfect antidote after your mouth is on fire after any spicy dish, Indian or otherwise.

Here’s how to make mango lassi at home. This recipe will make 3-4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized, ripe mangos
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom

Instructions

The first step is to dice the mangos into chunks. This will allow for it to easily be blended.

Next, add the diced mango into a blender. After this, add whole milk and vanilla yogurt to the blender and stir with a spoon.

Gradually add the white sugar while stirring. The final step is to add the ground cardamom and stir once more.

Finally, set the blender to high and allow to blend for 30 seconds to one minute, turning the mixture into a creamy liquid.

Check to be sure that the consistency is correct before serving. You can add more mango if it’s too thin or more milk and/or yogurt if it’s too thick.

Finally, pour into a glass and your mango lassi is ready to drink.

Enjoy!
