Frozen food often gets a bad rep, being viewed as less healthy and of bad quality compared to fresh food. But contrary to popular belief, frozen food is just as good as fresh food. It can be even better in some cases. Over the years, there have been several popular myths linked with frozen food that has caused consumers to shy away from it. Let’s check them out and see why you should not believe in them.

Frozen Food Has Fewer Nutrients

The argument that is often made in support of fresh food versus frozen food is that fresh food has more nutrients. And this sounds perfectly rational, as the food is most nutritious when fresh. But there is a catch.

Fresh food comes to our table after days and sometimes even weeks of transport. This is especially the case with fruit and vegetables, which are often picked and shipped before becoming ripe. And with each passing day, the food loses its nutrients and quality.

Frozen food, on the other hand, doesn’t have this problem. The freezing process locks all the nutrients and prevents the outside factors from jeopardizing the quality of the food. This is supported by various studies that even showed that frozen veggies and fruit could be richer in nutrients compared to their fresh counterparts.

Frozen Food Contains Sodium and Preservatives

Another popular myth surrounding frozen food is that it’s full of sodium and other preservatives to keep its features for longer. But this isn’t exactly true.

Sodium and preservatives are added to food in order to extend their shelf life. But because freezing serves as a preservative, there is no need to include chemicals in the process.

However, some packaged frozen meals can contain high amounts of sodium to enhance the flavor. This is why it’s helpful to check the labels for sodium content just to be sure.

Frozen Food is Expensive

We don’t blame you if you think frozen food is expensive. Food prices have been skyrocketing in recent years, and frozen foods follow this trend. However, they are still a cheaper option compared to take-outs, restaurants, and sometimes even cooking from scratch.

Most frozen meals cost half as much as the same dish in a restaurant. If you want to cook it yourself and the recipe requires ingredients not commonly found in the kitchen, you will probably spend a similar amount.

A pack of frozen fries can sure seem pricier than buying few potatoes and making your own. But take into account the time you will spend on prep work. Also, one pack usually contains a lot more fries than you need, meaning you can use it for several batches.

Another thing to take into consideration is that out-of-season food is always pricey. But the same food in its frozen variant will always be significantly cheaper. And we already learned that there is not a lot of difference between them.

Being original is what a good product is all about, and this product is beyond the original. This is the bagel that broke the internet—the original rainbow bagel. If you’re wondering how someone came up with this genius idea, here is the man behind it—Scot Rossillo.

Rossillo took the bagel industry to a whole new level and did something most people thought could never be done. He told the Insider that many people felt it’s impossible to make this kind of bagels, but he found a way to prove them wrong.

What is the secret of his success?  In Rossillo’s opinion, there is no secret. It is not about recipe or technique, and each of his bagels is an absolute labor of passion and art.

“A tremendous amount of discipline is required to make the world’s most beautiful bagel. There are two people in the world who could do this, myself, and that young man behind you,” said Rossillo while discussing his business in the interview with Insider.

He has a lot of pressure and creative passion, so making these bagels is a kind of therapy for Rossillo. You can see that these bagels are truly a work of art, and that he put a lot of passion into them.

If you are tired of frying food and giving a lot of effort to all meals, it is time to take a little break and let your pot do all the work. Instant pot meals will lower the pressure and make dinner time much easier.

Chicken and Potato

Making this classic pot dish on a regular basis is just what you need. Chicken, potatoes, beans, and minimal cleanup are what this dish can promise at any time.

Lamb

Lamb with turnips prepared in a clay pot makes for a soul-warming home-cooked meal. Enjoy soft lamb for lunch or dinner with minimal effort of making it, because your pot will get the job done.

Beef

The classiest one of all instant pot meals is definitely the French beef stew. Combining tender pieces of beef, fresh vegetables, and adding a glass of red wine is a dish that no one can refuse.

Mexican Pinto Bean

Mexican pinto beans are healthy and rich with protein, and the best way to prepare these beans is by using the instant pot.

Being short on ingredients and time to go to the store before your party guests arrive is no problem when it comes to certain desserts. These five sweet recipes require five or fewer ingredients, but that’s not stopping them from being extremely delicious.

Lemon Curd Tarts

Lemon curd tart is probably the little sweet everyone loves. All you need for this recipe are lemon curd, frozen miniature phyllo shells, frozen whipped topping, and ground cinnamon.

Vegan Meringues

This dessert is very affordable, and all you will need to make these little delightful meringues is a can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), cream of tartar, white sugar, and vanilla extract.

Macarons

A macaron—or French macaroon—is truly a treat that looks and tastes very expensive, but it has only five ingredients. Egg whites, powdered and granulated sugar, finely ground almonds or almond flour, and mascarpone cheese are all you need to make them.
