5 Embarrassing Food Trends of 2018

2018 has been a great year for creative crossovers and branching out when it comes to new and exotic flavours. Some of the food trends this year, however, are better off forgotten.

Avocado wedding proposals

Everybody loves an avocado but the trend of hiding engagement rings in the fruit for a ‘vegan dream’ themed proposal is too far.

Avocado mugs

The avocado obsession also saw some cafes selling coffee in avocado skin instead of a mug. It’s resourceful but not the most ideal way to sip on a hot drink.

Broccoli Coffee

There was a brief trend of people mixing broccoli powder with their hot beverages to make sure they were getting enough of the healthy nutrients. We’d personally prefer to just eat some broccoli but hey, to each their own.

Pickle Icecream

The list of ice cream trends this year has been ridiculous but pickle ice cream has got to be the worst. Ok, so technically it’s meant to be ‘cucumber’ ice cream, which might make it sound posher but doesn’t stop it tasting like a jar of manky pickles.

Crossushi

There’s been lots of food crossovers the last couple of years but a croissant wrapped round sushi is one of the craziest things we’ve ever heard.
