Three Rules to Keeping a Tidy Kitchen

Home organization tips are normally written from experience, and so many times the ideas and instructions are just perfect for those who live the same way the writer does but end up quite frustrating for others. So, our tips for the kitchen are a little different—we gathered three little rules to help you figure out your own way to keep your kitchen tidy.

The “No Rules” Rule

Probably our favorite rule, and certainly the most important one. Approach organizing your kitchen with an open mind; as long as you keep it healthy and safe, make your culinary domain fit your style and convenience. Tasty food comes out of happy kitchens.

Follow the Usage

When thinking about how to organize the kitchen, make sure to work with the people who use it the most. Perhaps spend a week or two observing what is being created in the kitchen most commonly. For example, if tea or coffee are brewed several times a day, keep the cups, kettle, teaspoons, and teabags or coffee jar together, not too far from the tap.

Stay Agile

Don’t insist on sticking to a certain organization simply out of habit. If something doesn’t work, rethink and move things around until you get it right.
