Being vegan doesn’t mean you need to miss out on delicious food items like bacon. It only means that you need to get creative and make yourself some vegan bacon.
Vegan bacon has been trending on popular social media platform TikTok for some time, and it isn’t hard to see why. It is crunchy, tasty, and doesn’t use any animal products.
Vegan bacon first became popular thanks to actress and social media personality Tabitha Brown. She shared a video with the recipe on her TikTok profile back in 2020, and it took the internet by storm. The clip was viewed astonishing 21.3 million times to date and received close to four million likes.
Brown’s recipe includes slicing the carrots into strips and marinating them in a mixture of liquid smoke, maple syrup, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and onion powder with black pepper. After the carrot strips spent several minutes marinating and picking up the flavors, she cooked them in an air fryer (you can use the oven instead) on 380 F and got herself some crispy carrot bacon.
