Coconuts make everything more delicious, including your favorite cocktails. Coconut milk and cream of coconut are common ingredients in a long list of amazing beverages and these three will transport you straight to the Caribbean islands.

Piña Colada

Piña colada needs no special introduction since it’s one of the most popular cocktails on the planet. It wouldn’t be the same without cream of coconut or coconut milk, but the classic recipe also includes rum and pineapple juice. You can garnish your glass with a pineapple wedge or maraschino cherry to make it picture-perfect.

Coquito

Coquito translates as “little coconut” in Spanish, so it’s not difficult to figure out what it contains. In addition to coconut milk and cream of coconut, it also contains milk, rum, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It’s basically a Puerto Rican version of eggnog and one of the most popular holiday drinks in this country.

Bushwacker

All the cocktails on this list originate from Puerto Rico and Bushwacker’s origins are the easiest to trace. This drink is pretty similar to a chocolate-based piña colada and it was invented in a tiny village in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The pineapple juice from piña colada is replaced with Kahlúa, a popular coffee liquor while the rest of the ingredients are pretty similar.
