When it comes to ice cream, there are few flavors more iconic than chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Each is great in its own right, but serving them together makes for a fruity and creamy flavor combo that’s delicious on its own or paired with a wide variety of desserts. The combination of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, sometimes called ‘Neapolitan’ in reference to the dessert’s origins, has also served as a source of inspiration for more than just ice cream. Some food bloggers have found creative ways to utilize these flavors in a wide variety of desserts and snacks. If you love Neapolitan ice cream, read on for a few Neapolitan-inspired recipes.

High Altitude Neapolitan Cupcakes

Curly Girl Kitchen specializes in recipes designed to work at a high altitude, but wherever you live, you’re sure to enjoy these chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry cupcakes. Chocolate cake serves as an indulgent base for vanilla strawberry swirl buttercream, while mini chocolate cone toppers pay homage to the combination’s origins. For baking at lower elevations, see the blog’s FAQ section.

Neapolitan Smoothie

Veggiekins does it again with this healthy and tasty three-layer smoothie. Each smoothie is made with bananas and non-dairy milk and then flavored with fresh, whole ingredients including strawberries and cacao nibs. For an ice cream-like texture, be sure to freeze your bananas before blending.

Neapolitan Cookies

Classic sugar cookies get a fun makeover with this veganized recipe by Foodie Yuki. It begins with instructions for a simple vanilla cookie dough, which is then divided into 3 equal parts. Cocoa powder and dried strawberry chips are then incorporated into separate parts before all of the colored doughs are assembled into one cookie. Why limit yourself to one flavor when you can have three?

We can all agree that strawberries taste best when you eat them fresh out of the bag. But this doesn’t mean you’ll go wrong if you decide to experiment a bit with this delicious and refreshing fruit. So let’s check out several other cool ways to eat strawberries and enjoy them on a hot summer day.

Sandwiches

If you are looking for healthier sandwich variations, strawberries are just the thing you need. They can be used as a standalone ingredient between two pieces of bread or as a substitute for jelly in PB&J sandwiches. Either way, you’ll get a delicious snack out of it.

Salads

It’s a common misconception that strawberries only work in fruit salads. They are also a great addition to a veggie salad, providing a sweet kick to cucumbers, radishes, and onions. And don’t get us started on that strawberries-vinegar mix.

Ice Cubes for Drinks

Ice cubes are great for chilling your drink fast, but they will also water it down quickly. To prevent this from happening, use frozen strawberries instead. Just clean the strawberries and put them in the freezer for several hours. After they’re iced, use them whenever you want to enjoy a cold drink without having to worry about spoiling the taste. As a bonus, there will be a cold strawberry waiting for you to eat after you finish the drink.

Chips

Dehydrating strawberry bits will give you a perfect low-calorie snack that you’ll love to have around. In case you don’t have a dehydrator, you can always thinly slice the strawberries and leave them in an oven at a low temperature for two hours.

Stuffed Strawberries

If you really want to take your strawberry game to the next level, then stuffing them is a way to go. Just make small holes in your strawberries and then fill them with ice cream, whipped cream, cheesecake mix, or Nutella. You’ll thank us later.

When looking for something sweet and healthy to eat, one great choice is a smoothie. Combining milk and fruit, this treat contains only natural sugars and doesn’t provide unhealthy processed foods that can make you feel bad.

One of my favorite fruit smoothie combinations involves bananas and strawberries, two fruits whose tastes blend perfectly together. Here’s how to make a strawberry banana smoothie at home with only four ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 large ripe banana
  • 250 grams strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

Start off by cutting your banana and strawberries into small to medium-sized pieces so that they can be chopped up by your blender. Once you’ve done that, add them to the blender.

Next, pour 250 milliliters of milk and 1 teaspoon of honey into the blender. The honey will give your smoothie the exact quantity of sweetness that you’ll need in order to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Blend on medium speed, or until the bananas and strawberries have been fully chopped up and blended into the liquid part of the smoothie.

Chill for 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator, and enjoy!

Have you ever been to your grocery store or local market and been faced with the time-old strawberry dilemma? While these red berries might always seem like a great option to pick up, it isn’t rare to be disappointed as they turn rotten and inedible after just a short amount of time.

So, how can you ensure that strawberries are ripe, fresh, and good for eating? Follow these instructions, and you won’t be met with this disappointment.

Bright Red Color

Strawberries should not be partially green (meaning that they aren’t ripe) or a dull red (meaning that they’re on the edge of spoiling). Look for bright red strawberries that look to be completely healthy and fresh when buying this fruit.

Fresh Green Leaves

One major clue of strawberries that are near the end of their useful life is a brown or yellow leaf. These leaves at the top of the berry should appear to be fresh, green, and healthy, meaning that the strawberry isn’t close to going bad.

No Signs of Mold

Here’s an important tip that everyone should follow when buying strawberries: look at the bottoms of the fruit! Often, strawberries look nice and red on top, but are concealing mold or fungus on the bottom of them where they’ve gotten wet. Be sure to look all over the berry for mold before buying.

It’s hard to imagine something better than relaxing on a sun lounger during the hot summer days. But as beautiful as it sounds, this relaxing scenario carries with itself a certain amount of health risks, and we particularly talk about the sunburns.

In order to enjoy the summer and stay uninjured, we would like to show you a few unusual ways to heal the sunburns.

Castor Oil

Castor oil has a plenty of health benefits, which definitely includes fantastic calming and soothing effects on sunburn due to it’s anti–inflammatory properties. So in order to heal the sunburns with Castor Oil, just apply it very gently onto your sunburn because it will re-hydrate and cool down the skin.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BltRQ7ZlAcU/?tagged=castoroil

Lavender oil

Although we mostly use lavender to sleep better, it also has a lot of skin health benefits. Lavender oil is a great cure for sunburn skin, as it has the power to reduce the sting of burns and reduce redness. These effects are due to the lavender oil’s antimicrobial properties, which help your skin recover faster.

Strawberries

Rich in Vitamin C and tannins, which soothe and reduce the scars on the skin, strawberries are a great option and also a bit unusual solution for sunburns. Just mash up a few ripened strawberries and apply them to the sunburn.
