Unlock the secret to pizza perfection with our foolproof Pizza Dough recipe. Say goodbye to store-bought dough and hello to homemade deliciousness every time! With simple ingredients and easy-to-follow steps, you’ll be on your way to crafting the perfect pizza crust in no time. Whether you prefer thin and crispy or thick and chewy, this recipe has you covered. Let’s get into how to make homemade pizza dough.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups of warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently to dissolve the sugar and yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy and bubbly. This indicates that the yeast is active.
  2. In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
  3. Pour the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the well of the flour mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or mix on low speed if using a stand mixer, until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Once the dough comes together, knead it on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it is smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky to the touch. Alternatively, knead the dough in the stand mixer on medium-low speed for the same amount of time. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into desired portions for your pizzas. This recipe typically makes enough dough for two 12-inch pizzas. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature setting (usually around 500°F/260°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to preheat as well.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion of dough into a circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of parchment paper. Add your favorite pizza toppings to the rolled-out dough, leaving a border around the edges for the crust.
  7. Carefully slide the parchment paper with the topped pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are bubbly and cooked to your liking. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
  8. Repeat the process with any remaining portions of dough, or wrap the extra dough tightly in plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Enjoy your homemade pizza with a perfect crust every time! Serve it hot and fresh out of the oven, and savor the deliciousness of your homemade creation.

If there’s one food in the world that transcends borders and is universally beloved for its comfort and convenience, it’s pizza. Versatile, flavorful, and easy to prepare, Americans alone are estimated to consume approximately 3 billion pizzas every year. When dinner time rolls around, pizza is a surefire way to satisfy everyone at the table, but as much as we love a fresh, hot pie, sometimes it’s fun to mix things up with some pizza-inspired recipes instead. Here are a few of our favorites.

Pizza Monkey Bread

Monkey bread is a fun and easy snack traditionally made with cinnamon sugar, but this recipe by The Girl Who Ate Everything gives it a savory spin with some garlic butter, cheese, and plenty of pepperoni. We love to put it out as a shareable snack at parties and on game days—with marinara sauce for dipping, of course.

Cheesy Vegan Pizza Beans

Vegans like pizza, too! Minimalist Baker knocks it out of the park with this nutritious and delicious pizza-inspired entrée. Made with cannellini beans and a homemade cashew cheese sauce, it’s filling, flavorful, and oh-so comforting. Enjoy it on its own, or as a dip with some toasted garlic bread.

Pizza Pasta Bake

Half the reason we like to order pizza in the first place is that it’s convenient, but when we’re feeling lazy and don’t want to spend extra money on takeout, this pasta recipe by Salt & Lavender is a great alternative. With just 4 simple ingredients, it takes only 10 minutes to whip up and is really to serve in less than an hour—like delivery, but better.

Breakfast Pizza

Breakfast for dinner takes on a whole new meaning in this two-for-one recipe by Budget Bytes. There’s no doubt that classics like pepperoni and Margherita will always hold a special place in our hearts, But sometimes it can be fun to experiment in the kitchen. Here are three pizza toppings that might surprise you but are sure to have you craving another slice.

Fig and Prosciutto

The sweet and savory combination of fig and prosciutto creates a pizza topping that’s both sophisticated and delicious. The natural sweetness of ripe figs pairs beautifully with the salty richness of thinly sliced prosciutto. When drizzled with a balsamic glaze and layered over creamy mozzarella and a thin, crisp pizza crust, this combination becomes a gourmet delight.

BBQ Chicken and Pineapple

BBQ chicken and pineapple may not be the first combination that comes to mind for pizza, but it’s a delicious blend of flavors that’s surprisingly satisfying. The tender, smoky chunks of BBQ chicken, and the juiciness of pineapple create a symphony of taste on your palate.

Pear and Gorgonzola

The subtle sweetness and crisp texture of thinly sliced pears make them an ideal complement to the bold flavors of Gorgonzola cheese. When scattered on a pizza crust and baked to perfection, the pears caramelize slightly, creating a harmonious balance of sweet and tangy.

The amazing thing about pizza is that there are so many different things you can do with it. You can go with the classic regular Margherita slice. You can top it with olives, mushrooms, onions, and countless other options. You can go off the beaten path as well, and that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about now. Here are a few pizza slice flavors you actually may not have heard of!

Mac N’ Cheese Slice

If you love cheese so much that the cheese on the pizza isn’t enough, why not try a mac n’ cheese slice? The slice is exactly how it sounds. It’s completely topped with mac n’ cheese, giving you a cheese carb storm that you’ll love.

In our case, we mean veggie chicken, but you can use regular if you like. In any case, this is also one of the tastiest unheard-of pizza slices out there, although it’s quite common in a city like NYC. If you’re looking for some extra protein, this is the way to go.

Name one person who doesn’t like pizza. Go on, we’ll wait.

The Italian dish is probably the most famous to come out of the European country, and with good reason. With an assortment of bases and a variety of toppings, pizza is one of the most customizable foods out there. You really can make it any way you want it.

Yes, the easiest way to get yourself a pie is to order a delivery or head to a restaurant. But have you ever tried to make your own?

Just think about it—you get to put as much cheese and sauce as you want!

If you’re up for going the homemade route (and we really do recommend giving it a try), there is one tool you’ll be all the more grateful for that you have in your kitchen.

Household ovens are great for roasting chicken and baking cupcakes. But making authentic pizza? Not so much…

To remedy this, we’d like to introduce the pizza stone.

This flat piece of clay enables a conventional oven to become as hot as possible so that it can create that awesome crust.

Let the stone pre-heat for around an hour, and combine it with a skillet boiler for best results.
