When we bake potatoes in the oven, we envision a perfectly crispy snack with just the right amount of crunch. But unfortunately, our dreams often turn to dust, as baked potatoes rarely turn out this way. Well, not anymore!

Melbourne-based nutritionist Laura Ford recently shared a recipe for baked potatoes on her Instagram account. And it includes a secret ingredient that ensures perfect crispiness every time.

Honey is the Key to Crispiness

According to Ford’s recipe, the first step is to boil the potatoes (after you’ve washed them). Bring water to a boil, and then add the potatoes you’ve previously cut into ¼-inch slices. They should boil for around 5 minutes until tender.

In the meantime, preheat the oven to 390 F. Brush the baking sheet with two tablespoons of olive oil and three tablespoons of butter and place it into the oven for two minutes so the butter can melt. Line the boiled potatoes onto the baking sheet and toss them around, so they are covered with olive oil and butter on both sides.

Ford recommends baking the potatoes between 25 to 30 minutes before flipping them and baking them for another 25 to 30 minutes. As soon as they come out of the oven, drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey.

According to Ford, this will result in “a perfect balance of sweet and salty “while giving your baked potatoes “the crispiest edges.” We don’t know about you, but we are ready to put this to the test.
