What would it wear to a ball? A golden, crispy coat with a soft, cheesy heart, of course! Welcome to the delightful world of fried potato balls —the snack that proves potatoes truly know how to party.

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or cilantro)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional fillings (bacon, ham, cheese, or jalapeños)

Instructions

  1. Once your potatoes are boiled and cooled, mash them until smooth.
  2. Add the grated cheese, chopped herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined. Add any fillings, if you like.
  3. Roll the potato mixture into balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Dip each potato ball into the beaten egg. Next, roll the egg-coated ball in the breadcrumbs until it’s completely covered.
  5. Place the coated balls on a plate and chill in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to set.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a deep pan to 375°F. Carefully add the potato balls to the hot oil in batches.
  7. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-4 minutes.
