Cookies are great, and pastries will always have a special place in our hearts, but why does it seem like all of the most popular desserts are made with flour? Whether you’re gluten intolerant or expecting guests with dietary restrictions, it can be challenging to find options that are both delicious and grain-free.

We’ve tried a bunch of recipes and discovered a few that really take the grain-free cake. Here are the ones we love most.

Almond Flour Brownies

Fudgy brownies are the best brownies, and if we had to choose one word to describe this brownie recipe by Olives & Thyme, it’s fudgy. They’re made with an almond flour base, are deliciously chocolatey, and make a perfect base for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Gluten-Free Lemon Bars

A classic treat gets a healthy upgrade in this lemon bar recipe by All the Healthy Things. The crust is made with almond flour and tapioca starch, so it’s safe for those with gluten intolerance. Additionally, the lemon curd filling calls for maple syrup in place of sugar for sweetness.

Matcha Chocolate Chip Cookies

Whoever said green tea and chocolate don’t go together clearly never tried this take on chocolate chip cookies by The Bojon Gourmet. They’re gluten-free, vegan, and paleo-friendly, but our favorite thing about them is how beautiful they look fresh out of the oven.
