Focaccia originated in Italy about 700 years ago. It’s closely related to pizza, and in some places, it’s called “Pizza Bianca.” This dish is great for a wide variety of situations, whether you’re cooking for a dinner party, or you want food to freeze for the week. Here’s a recipe for focaccia that’s incredibly easy.
Ingredients
- 6 focaccias
- 5 cups of flour
- 2 tablespoons of yeast
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- ½ cup of olive oil
- 1 ½ Cups of hot water
Instructions
- Mix the flour and yeast in a bowl then add the sugar, salt, oil, and water.
- Knead the dough in a mixer for about 8 minutes until a soft dough is formed
- Set the dough aside in a covered and lightly oiled bowl for about 45 minutes
- Divide the dough into 6 balls and let rise for another 20 minutes
- Stretch each ball to about 12 inches in length
- Turn on the oven to 437 degrees Fahrenheit
- Let the dough rise for another 10 minutes
- Make little holes and spread it with olive oil
- Sprinkle sea salt to taste, but be generous!
- You can add vegetables like peppers, onions, or tomatoes
- Bake for about 10 minutes
- Let cool a bit, serve warm, and enjoy!
