Instant coffee is widely considered to have the worst taste compared to all other types of coffee. But it is hard to argue its convenience since you can prepare it in a heartbeat and still enjoy the caffeine kick you need. On top of that, it is easy to make it taste better by following just a few simple tips.

Use Higher-Quality Instant Coffee

The better the quality of instant coffee, the better the taste will be. It is as simple as that. Considering that instant coffee is often cheaper compared to regular coffee, you can invest a bit more in higher-quality variants without breaking the bank.

Opt for Filtered Water

People often forget that the water used to prepare instant coffee is just as important. You should avoid tap water as it contains chlorine, which will affect the flavor of the coffee. Instead, opt for filtered water to significantly elevate your cup of instant coffee.

Don’t Use Boiling Water

Using boiling water for instant coffee will burn it and result in a bitter taste. Nescafé, one of the world’s largest producers of instant coffee, recommends a water temperature of 176F. If you don’t want to bother with a thermometer, you can boil the water and then leave it to rest for around a minute to come close to this temperature.

Add Milk and Sweeteners

Finally, don’t skip on the milk and sweeteners. They will make a world of difference and ensure you enjoy every sip.

Gin and tonic is one of the most popular cocktails on the market, and if you still haven’t mastered the art of making it—now’s the time. If you feel like your gin and tonic is missing something to be perfect, here are five tips and tricks that can help you take your cocktail to new heights.

Quality Gin

The gin you’re using can make or break your cocktail, and it takes some time to find one that works for you. London dry gin is a timeless classic, but you can also put a twist on your drink with floral varieties.

Tonic Choice

Tonic water is the main ingredient of your cocktail, and your gin and tonic will fall flat if you don’t make the right choice. Schweppes is the safest option because it offers a wide variety of different flavors for everyone’s taste.

Ice Dilemma

Ice clubs will keep your drink cold, but you shouldn’t go overboard because they’ll dilute your drink after melting away.

Glass Choice

Gin and tonic is usually served in highball glasses or balloon-shaped glasses because they’ll allow the aromas to develop, while also leaving room to add more garnishes.

Extra Garnishes

Speaking of garnish, orange and lemon peels are the most popular choice, but you can use everything from rosemary and cucumber to mint and barriers.

Celebrity beverage brands have been going strong for quite some time, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. 2024 marked the launch of quite a few, giving us new flavors of everything from non-alcoholic beer to whisky, and here are three that got everyone talking.

Kylie Jenner – Sprinter

After taking the beauty world by storm with Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Jenner tried to enter the beverage scene with the launch of Sprinter. She introduced a line of premium canned vodka sodas, made with vodka, sparkling water, and real fruit juice, offering such flavors as black cherry, peach, grapefruit, and lime.

Beyoncé – SirDavis

We can count on Beyoncé to rock our world with each of her business ventures, and she did it again with her whisky brand SirDavis. Launched in collaboration with Moët Hennessy, this whiskey is a homage to her great-grandfather Davis Hogue and celebrates the singer’s southern heritage.

Tom Holland – Bero

Tom Holland took a personal approach when he decided to launch his own beverage brand and settled for one inspired by his sobriety battle. He introduced a non-alcoholic beer brand Bero, offering three flavors Noon Wheat, Kingston Golden Pils, and Edge Hill Hazy IPA as a part of its initial launch.

The ingredients you use can make or break your smoothies, and ice cubes have emerged as a popular add-in over the years. You’ll notice it’s used in many smoothie recipes online, but does your smoothie need this ingredient, and what are its pros and cons?

Colder & Thicker

Adding ice to your smoothies comes with several benefits, especially during hot summer days. It will keep your smoothies cold and thicken up their texture without adding any extra calories since it’s basically water.

Watered-Down Taste

Adding ice is a good idea only if you’re planning to drink your smoothie right away. It won’t do it any favors in the long run because it will melt in a couple of minutes, diluting the taste of your smoothie and giving it a watered-down flavor.

Strong Blender

Using ice isn’t a good idea if your blender isn’t strong enough. It can be pretty tough on the blades and can even shorten their lifespan if your blender isn’t designed to handle ice regularly.

Better Alternatives

Using ice seems unnecessary when there are so many better ways to keep your smoothies cold and creamy. Frozen fruits and veggies will usually do the trick, and you can even freeze your milk or other liquid base inside ice cube trays and use them instead of regular ice.

Most people can’t imagine their day starting with anything other than coffee. However, did you know that drinking tea in the morning is a much better option for several reasons? Continue reading to learn more.

Tea Helps You Stay Mentally Alert for Longer

When you drink a cup of coffee in the morning, you get an instant wake-up call. However, that effect won’t last long. Teas, on the other hand, have a slower effect in getting you up to speed, but its effects last longer and keep you mentally alert for a prolonged period thanks to its chemical L-theanine.

Tea is More Gentle to Your Stomach

Coffee is known to upset the stomach of some people, especially if they drink it without eating it first. Tea, on the other hand, is much gentler in this regard.

Less Danger from Overconsumption

Coffee is more potent; if you drink it too much, you are setting yourself up for various side effects like nausea, insomnia, and headaches. Tea, on the other hand, can also have side effects, but you need to consume a lot more of it to bring them to the surface.

Tea Can Be a Healthier Option

Both coffee and tea have their health benefits. However, with tea, there are more varieties, which allow you to pick one with health benefits that target a particular need.

Every coffee enthusiast has a preferred brewing method. If you’re torn between the traditional French press and the convenient drip coffee maker, you’re not alone. Both methods have their unique charms and benefits so let’s break down the differences.

French Press is Hands-On

The French press is a hands-on approach to brewing. It uses a cylindrical pot with a plunger and a built-in filter screen that presses hot water through ground coffee. This method allows the coffee to steep directly in the boiling water for several minutes, which results in a robust and richly flavored brew. The key characteristic of French press coffee is that it retains more of the coffee’s natural oils and fine particles. This gives it a thicker and fuller body with a noticeable amount of sediment.

Drip Coffee is Automated

Drip coffee machines, on the other hand, provide a more automated brewing experience. Water is heated and then dripped over coffee grounds contained in a filter. As water passes through the grounds, it extracts flavors and aromas. However, the paper or metal filter traps most of the coffee’s oils and finer particles, producing a cleaner and lighter brew. This method is favored for its convenience and consistency, delivering a smoother cup that is generally easier to drink with less residue.

Who says you need to hit up an expensive coffee shop for a gourmet brew? With a little creativity and these simple tricks, you can transform your home-brewed coffee into a luxurious treat that rivals any cafe offering. Here are some fun and easy ways to upgrade your coffee.

Spice it up

Add a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom to your ground coffee before brewing. These warm spices can add depth and complexity to your cup.

Try a flavored syrup

Experiment with different flavored syrups like vanilla, hazelnut, or caramel. Just a small amount can add a delightful sweetness and aroma.

Froth your milk

Even without an espresso machine, you can create frothy milk using a handheld frother or by shaking warm milk in a jar.

Cold brew ice cubes

Freeze leftover coffee in an ice cube tray. Use these in your iced coffee to prevent dilution as they melt.

Add a twist of citrus

A small strip of orange or lemon zest can add a bright, unexpected flavor to your coffee.

Sweeten naturally

Replace sugar with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for a more complex sweetness. You may never go back!

Top with cocoa

Dust the top of your coffee with a bit of cocoa powder for a mocha-like experience.
