Add Kefir Into Your Favorite Recipes

Kefir is a fermented drink that is similar to yogurt in its tangy taste from the fermentation, but thinner and therefore can be used in recipes that call for liquids like milk and buttermilk.

Replacing your normal dairy products with kefir will not only give your food a richer, more fully-realized taste, but it has tons of probiotics that actually make them healthier as well as having almost no lactose in it, making it accessible for people with dietary restrictions. Here are some recipes that really benefit from kefir.

Pancakes

Instead of using regular milk or buttermilk for your weekend pancakes, throw in the same amount of kefir instead! The kefir balances out the sweetness of the pancakes and is great for your gut. The flavor of the kefir is slight, but really makes for a delicious bite.

Biscuits

Most recipes use buttermilk for southern-style biscuits, but using kefir instead will take your biscuits to a whole new level. Biscuits are not the healthiest food in the world, but by switching out the buttermilk for kefir, you will cut out a lot of the “bad stuff”. However, the kefir keeps it light and fluffy, just how you want a biscuit to taste.
