Wine Is a Different Ballgame In Italy

When many of us think of wine, we think about fancy dinners. We think about relaxation and serenity. Perhaps we think about a 12 PM spritzer at a spa (for some). In any case, Italy can certainly exemplify all of these elements, but we’re here to say that Italy also adds a whole other element to the table. Here’s why wine is a whole different ballgame in Italy.

It’s Part Of The Bar Scene

If you were to go to a rowdy bar in New York City, you might see a few people drinking wine. But for the most part, people would be drinking a myriad of other alcohols such as vodka, whiskey, tequila, and definitely beer.

In Italy, it’s a whole different vibe. You might stumble into a bar and realize that it’s geared solely around drinking wine. You’ll look around and realize that every single person is holding a wine glass. Ages young and old, people mingle with their wine without a second thought—and it’s the main drink of choice.

Cultural Differences

One might ask, what does this say about culture in Italy? Perhaps it says that many folks aren’t looking to get hammered when they go out to a bar. They’re looking for a more chill scenery, and not a “beer chill”. A wine chill. It encourages a more relaxed state of mind, and certainly sheds light on Italian culture that many don’t see.
