This Local Londoner Will Teach You Where to Eat Cheap

When it comes to food, London is arguably the most cosmopolitan city on Earth. If it isn’t cooked in London, then it doesn’t exist. But dining out in London doesn’t come cheap, and you might need the help of a decent Londoner to help you find those grand bargains. Here to help you out is Leyla Kazim of London Cheap Eats.

The online platform is the perfect guide to both locals and tourists visiting the English capital for the first time, offering everything you need to know about eating at London’s top venues.

According to Kazim, there are four main criteria for a dish to make it onto London Cheap Eats: Fresh—the food must be freshly prepared, and of good quality; Filling—It must be enough to alone leave the average appetite satisfied; Frugal—It must be truly cheap, £8 or less; and For a friend—It must be something they would genuinely recommend to a friend.

Her website and Instagram will also teach you how to find the best way to eat in London and what tips to pass on to those seeking out a good dining experience that doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

According to Kazim, the idea for the guide came out of a need—more than anything else. With little money to spare, Kazim still wanted to be an active member of London’s dining scene, but without the £20-£60 (and beyond) price tag each time. “I figured there were others like me,” she writes on her website.

“I thought to myself: wouldn’t it be great if there was an ever-growing, comprehensive guide of the best budget food in London, made up of trusted and objective opinions, suggesting not only on where to go, but also what to order,” she explains. “I figured I’d better do something about that. And so, the idea of London Cheap Eats came to be.”
