This Artist Made an Edible Shoe Out of Toast

People often get creative with food but we rarely see something like Manami Sasaki’s latest design. The food artist from Japan started making creative toast art in 2020 when the pandemic started and she was bored at home. Her Instagram page, where she’s approaching 50k followers, is full of toast art photos, but her latest design is something special.

Sasaki made a sneaker from toast and it looks pretty realistic in shape and size. The texture wasn’t masked and it’s obvious that it was made out of bread slices. She added other ingredients that go into a vegetable toast and glued the parts together with flour and water.

“This is a vegetable toast with a focus on deliciousness! The parts are glued together with flour. Of course, these shoes are delicious to eat,” the Instagram caption reads. “Each part of the pattern is made of a different type of bread. When I baked them, the good smell spread throughout the room.”

Many of Sasaki’s toast art pieces were inspired by famous artworks, but there are also plenty of original designs. When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, she found it difficult to motivate herself to start the day, and a piece of artistic toast for breakfast every day sounded like something that would do the trick.
