Who doesn’t love some guacamole or hummus with veggies or chips? The party doesn’t start until the dips are on the table. If you want to try something a little different this holiday, these three dip ideas are perfect for you and your guests.

Beet Dip

Who doesn’t want a pink dip? Beets are such a fabulous main ingredient for a dip—you can mix them with yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and many other ingredients. Roasted beets are the best for adding flavor but cooked beets work just as well. This dip will look amazing on any party table.

Roasted Eggplant Dip

Eggplant dips are so delicious and you can add a variety of herbs and spices and toppings to make it more interesting. Tahini is a great addition and pomegranate and some fresh herbs. You can add some tomatoes or olives on the top too.

French Onion Dip

The sweetness of the onions makes this dip perfect for a party—you won’t want to stop eating it. Scoop it up with some pita bread or crunchy carrots and it is also really simple to make.

In the world of social media and food trends, certain snacks have a way of taking Instagram by storm, thanks to their delicious taste, ease of preparation, and, most importantly, their impressive nutritional profile. One such snack that has captured the attention of health-conscious Instagram users is the humble chickpea, transformed into a crave-worthy snack in a few simple steps.

Let’s take a look at the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch (optionally for extra crispiness )

Instructions:

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Add all the ingredients to a bowl. Preheat the oven to 400°F/200C. Line a large baking tray with parchment paper and spread the chickpeas in a single layer. Bake for 35-40 minutes, moving them around on the tray 1-2 times while in the oven to give it an even roast. Remove from the oven and let it cool. Enjoy!
  2. What’s great about this recipe and why it became so popular on Instagram is it really takes a minimum of time to prepare. Plus, it’s a great substitute for chips and other less healthy crunchy snacks.

If you lead a plant-based lifestyle, you might be missing the gooey sweetness of caramel. Or perhaps you’re just looking to cut down your butter intake and find a healthier alternative. Our vegan caramel is made with just three natural ingredients—tahini, silan, and sea salt.

Tahini is a thick sesame seed paste used widely in Middle Eastern cooking. Silan is an antioxidant-rich liquid sweetener made from sun ripened dates. And the sea salt adds that delicious salted caramel flavor that we all know and love!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup high quality tahini
  • 3-4 tablespoons silan (Middle Eastern date syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasalt

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients.
  2. Use a whisk to combine the tahini and the silan. It will become stiff and difficult to mix. At this point add a splash of cold water and whisk well. Continue to add water and whisk until the tahini becomes a gooey caramel-like texture.
  3. Taste to check if the sweet and salty levels are good for you, and add more silan and salt accordingly.
  4. Transfer the tahini caramel to a sterilized jar and store in the refrigerator.
  5. Enjoy delicious tahini caramel on toast, in desserts, or simply off the spoon!

When it comes to tahini, it’s usually thought of as an addition to hummus, but there’s so much more you can do with the Middle Eastern sesame paste. From sauces and baked goods to dips and hot drinks, tahini has tons of uses, making it a great addition to your pantry. Check out five uses for tahini that go beyond hummus.

Topping

Tahini can be drizzled over almost anything and it’s especially delicious in yogurts. It can also be used as an addition to barbeque sauce, pesto, or mayo. Did we mention how amazing it is on pancakes, waffles, or ice cream?

Drinks

Tahini can be added to cold drinks like milkshakes or smoothies or hot drinks like hot chocolate and coffee for a richer, more complex flavor.

Dairy and Vegan Substitute

Next time you want to make a soup creamier without adding milk, put tahini in it. Tahini is also a great substitute for eggs or mayoniase when making non-dairy queso or vegan mac and cheese.

Dips

This sesame paste adds a roasted, nutty flavor and texture when blended with edamame, white beans, guacamole, or roasted carrots.

Baked Goods

Tahini adds texture and flavor to baked goods like babkas, donuts, breads, cookies, and cakes. It also makes baked goods moister without adding oil.

Once considered an exotic product and difficult to obtain, today tahini is the star of home cooking and different types of raw tahini can be obtained almost everywhere.

The types of tahini vary according to the place where it was made, the production method, the sesame seeds used to make it, and more—but most types have in common the fact it is a delicious, healthy, cheap, and nutritious product.

Tahini can be used in many dishes, but there is one sauce that is just insane.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of raw tahini
5-8 tablespoons lemon or lime
2 cloves crushed garlic
2 tablespoons quality olive oil
5 tablespoons coriander / chopped parsley / dill
Salt to taste

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl until the mixture is completely uniform. Finally, add more lemon or salt to taste.

The sauce is served immediately or kept in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

The sauce goes great with a fresh vegetable salad, as a dip, on hot stews, or simply on a slice of fresh bread.

Tahini is a very useful condiment, particularly if you’ve got a taste for Middle Eastern food or if you keep a vegan diet (it’s a great substitute to many ingredients). It’s normally consumed as a savory item, with salads, dips, roasts, and grilled vegetables. But raw tahini, which is essentially sesame paste, can also be a fantastic dessert, and here are a couple of ideas to get you started.

Cacao Popsicles

A great and vegan way to cool off, this is made up of layers of maple syrup-tahini mix, and cocoa-almond butter mix poured into a popsicle mold and placed in a freezer for about five hours.

Chocolate-Hemp Coconut Snack

These chocolate squares are a great alternative to brownies, for anyone who wants to try something different in texture. Mix cocoa powder and tahini with hemp seeds and almonds to make the chocolate layer, and tahini with coconut butter and maple syrup for the coconut layer. The secret is to add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of lemon juice to make it interesting.

Halva-Filled Dates

Going all the way with the Middle Eastern flavors, this idea includes pitted Medjool dates stuffed with a mixture of tahini, cardamom, add powder sugar. This is to be eaten frozen after coating the dates with melted chocolate.

Sesame seeds are a great component to any dish and can also add a bit of flair to a typical salad. They can be used in many ways, they can be pulverized into a powder, lightly toasted, or even made into tahini. Tahini is widely used in the Mediterranean as the main component in hummus and it’s also used as a dressing for finely chopped salads. Tahini is loaded with protein and it’s great for people who are leaning towards a vegetarian/vegan diet. You’ll certainly get a big shot of protein in one heaping spoonful of tahini. Pair it with toast in the morning for a simple and easy breakfast.

Goes Great With Roasted Veggies

Tahini is an amazing dip for roasted vegetables especially eggplant.

Spice it Up

Tahini goes great with almost any spices including turmeric and spiced paprika. If you’re looking to make an Indian type style of tahini feel free to add garam masala or even cumin powder. Top it off with some lemon zest and you’re good to go!

Hummus is one of the most popular spreads all around the world, even though it is a Middle Eastern staple. Although you can find this dip in almost every grocery store, most of the time you’ll need to give it a little boost. Whether you decide to make it yourself or opt for the store bought option, here are certain tricks that will liven up the flavor and impress your tastebuds.

Store Bought

Store-bought hummus is definitely the easier option, but you should definitely take a few minutes to take it up a notch without hardly any effort. Even just drizzling the top with olive oil and adding some spices like paprika or zaatar will make it look more beautiful and taste better.

Tahini

Most of the flavor of hummus actually comes from this sesame paste, so whether you’re buying it or making it, it will sure add a ton of flavor to your dip. You can either mix it in with the hummus or leave it in the middle of the bowl and you will be amazed by how much better your hummus will be.

Roasted Chickpeas

Boosting the flavor in your foods with garnishes is how the pros do it, and so can you! Since hummus is a chickpea base, through on some roasted chickpeas on top and give the people what they want. They are crunchy, beautiful, and will put your hummus over the top.

Tahini is a classic sauce in many Middle Eastern homes. It is made up of crushed sesame seeds to give it a really nutty and delicious taste.

While you can easily make regular tahini out of the paste, why not take it a step further and make green tahini! This sauce is still very traditional in Middle Eastern homes, and some might say is even yummier than the original. It’s definitely healthier with the addition of the all the herbs, and looks really impressive on meat and veggies!

Recipe

  1. In a food processor or high-speed blender, toss in 1 cup of parsley, 3 scallions, and a tablespoon of dill.
  2. Pulse these a few times before you add in the rest of the ingredients, so they can get chopped up evenly.
  3. Once they’re diced, add in 1 cup of raw tahini, 1/4 cup of lemon or lime juice, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cumin.
  4. Start running the motor of the machine and see how the consistency is. If the tahini is too thick, slowly add in water to thin it out.
  5. Once it’s a little runnier, pour it into a bowl to serve or pour straight on top of your main course and enjoy!
