While you may be familiar with some Swiss dishes like fondue and muesli, there are so many other delightful foods that Switzerland has to offer. With a cuisine influenced by France, Germany, and Italy, Swiss foods tend to be rather basic, with lots of potatoes and cheese, which means what? Yummy and easy to make! Here are three we’d recommend trying.

Rosti

Considered by many to be a national dish of Switzerland, rosti is essentially a fried potato fritter similar to latkes. It’s often served as a side with other dishes like fried eggs. Not only are rosti easy to make, but they’re also incredibly yummy. After all, how can you go wrong with potatoes and oil?

Gschwellti

Another Swiss potato dish that isn’t as well-known as rosti, gschwellti consists of potatoes cooked in their skin. They’re typically served with raclette, a melted, scraped Swiss cheese, or a selection of cheeses. In this way, it’s pretty much the epitome of Swiss cooking.

Carac

Tired of potatoes and ready for dessert? Well, that means it’s the perfect time to get to know carac, a tart-like Swiss pastry made with chocolate, cream, fondant, and shortbread. With its eye-catching color scheme and its tempting, bite-sized size, carac is the kind of dessert that won’t last more than a day after you bake it.
