Pasties are often considered to be tasty yet a bother for our diet. But it doesn’t have to be that way in every form. If you add onion and cheese to a well-organized recipe, you can get the best of both worlds: taste and health.
Ingredients:
250 g of floury peeled potatoes
Butter
A dash of milk
200 g of smoked and grated cheese
1tsp English mustard
1 beaten egg
2 finely chopped onions
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Add potatoes to a boiled saucepan with water. Cover and boil for about 15 minutes. After potatoes are soft, mash them with butter and milk. Add seasoning according to the taste.
Preheat the oven to 200C and grease a baking tray with butter. Add to oven the mashed potato and cheese along with mustard oil and onions in a bowl. Stir to combine and season to taste.
Take out the sheet and cut it into rectangles. Place the potatoes mixture on the cut pieces and wrap it to form pasties of even sizes. Brush the edges with beaten eggs.
Place pasties on a baking tray. Leave to cool on a wire rack and then serve warm.
