London-based foodie and BBC presenter Leyla Kazim knows a good meal when she tastes one. The founder of food and travel blog The Cutlery Chronicles, Kazim shares her global culinary stories as she travels around the world (when traveling is permitted, that is).

Inspired by the exceptional cooking she was brought up with by her Mauritian mother and Turkish-Cypriot father, Kazim appreciates the huge range of flavors available in the culinary world, as she actively seeks them out.

Her passion for food resulted in a road trip around the world in 2015 which ended up as a Lonely Planet’s book: The Ultimate Eatlist, The World’s Top 500 Food Experiences (2018).

“What inspires me to create content is what inspires me in life,” she recently shared in an interview with Mother Tongue, “broadening my horizons with travel, appreciating the beauty of this planet and its people, experiencing things I haven’t before, and exploring cuisines from around the world.

“I’m on one big journey myself, saying yes to as many opportunities as I can, and seeing where they take me,” adds Kazim. “A big part of travel for me is quashing pre-conceptions, and fully immersing myself in new cultures. It’s sharing these experiences, and hoping they might ignite a sense of adventure in others, that inspires me to create content.”

And while most of us won’t be able to travel the world for quite a while, scrolling through Kazim’s Instagram page is a reminder that good things (and more importantly – tasty things) are yet to come!
