During the beginning of the pandemic, most of us spent a lot of time in our kitchens, discovering new recipes. But now that the initial excitement of cooking has worn off, it’s become a chore again and we’ve been in a rut. We find ourselves making the same meals over and over again, and getting sick of them. If you’re in a food rut, here are some ways to get out of it.

Be Kinder to Yourself

Take the pressure off of yourself to always be creative with your meal planning. It’s okay to use already made items like pasta sauce or salad dressings when you don’t feel up to cooking.

Use What’s In Your Fridge

Scavenge for whatever lies in your fridge or freezer. Turn your leftovers into a meal by combining whichever ones you have left with other pantry staples like vegetables and cheeses.

Find Something That’s Exciting to Make

Next time you have a craving for something, look up how to make it. You may even have all of the ingredients you need in your kitchen.

Experiment With Your Go-To Recipes

Switch up a dish you’re already good at making by adding different vegetables or proteins. You can even try a new sauce or seasoning.
