Coleslaw is one of the most versatile salads out there. This simple salad can be a great standalone meal when you don’t need much to get you going. But it works even better as a side dish for barbecue and chicken or an ingredient that will take your sandwich over the top. Making it is painfully easy, and once you master it, coleslaw will be a common guest for many of your meals. Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
- 1 green cabbage head
- 1 red cabbage head
- 4 carrots
- 1 onion
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Salt, black pepper
Instructions
- Shred both the green and red cabbage. Mix them in a bowl and add two teaspoons of salt. Mix and let it sit for half an hour.
- Slice the carrots into stripes and chop the onion.
- In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Use salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove the cabbage from the bowl and shake excess water. Combine it with the rest of the veggies and dressing in a salad bowl.
- Give it a thorough mix, so the dressing blends with other ingredients.
- You can use it right away or leave it in a fridge for an hour for the best results.
