Coleslaw is one of the most versatile salads out there. This simple salad can be a great standalone meal when you don’t need much to get you going. But it works even better as a side dish for barbecue and chicken or an ingredient that will take your sandwich over the top. Making it is painfully easy, and once you master it, coleslaw will be a common guest for many of your meals. Here is how to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 green cabbage head
  • 1 red cabbage head
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Salt, black pepper

Instructions

  1. Shred both the green and red cabbage. Mix them in a bowl and add two teaspoons of salt. Mix and let it sit for half an hour.
  2. Slice the carrots into stripes and chop the onion.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Use salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Remove the cabbage from the bowl and shake excess water. Combine it with the rest of the veggies and dressing in a salad bowl.
  5. Give it a thorough mix, so the dressing blends with other ingredients.
  6. You can use it right away or leave it in a fridge for an hour for the best results.
