Healthy Snack Ideas to Serve at Your Next Halloween Party

Halloween will be here in just a matter of weeks, and for better or worse, plenty of candy along with it. While we’d be lying if we said we weren’t looking forward to enjoying some Milky Way bars and Reese’s Cups, we’re also well aware that when it comes to sugar, it’s easy to have too much of a good thing. To prevent overindulging, we like to prepare a few healthier options to serve at Halloween parties—without straying from the theme, of course. Here are a few you’ll find on our tables this year.

Clementine Cuties

No Halloween table would be complete without a few pumpkins, but the candy versions are made almost entirely of sugar. As an alternative, we love making our own using fresh fruits and veggies. Peeled clementines have a round, ridged shape that works perfectly as bite-sized pumpkin bodies and small slices of any green veggie can be used for stems. Spooky Guac

Blood sugar spikes are seriously scary, so keep yours balanced by adding some healthy fat to your Halloween menu. One of our favorite options is avocado, which is high in monounsaturated fat as well as several essential vitamins and minerals. To make your own fun and festive dip, just prepare your preferred guacamole recipe, then use a toothpick to draw a “web” with sour cream. Or, follow this recipe by Hoorah to Health.

Banana Boos

If you find the idea of a Halloween party without chocolate terrifying, serving it alongside some fruit is a great way to add a bit of fiber and nutrition. For an on-theme treat, melt some milk or dark chocolate and use a piping bag to draw scary faces on a piece of parchment paper. Once the faces have hardened, use a little melted chocolate to stick them to cut bananas. Keep them in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.
