]]>Many counties in the southwest of the UK have their version of the cream tea. The three components are scones, cream, and jam. The scones are cut in half, then the jam and cream are dolloped onto each half. This is typically enjoyed with some tea for the perfect afternoon sweet treat.
This one has been around for a while and remains popular across the UK. While called a cake, it’s actually made of pastry, with currants and a filling. Originating in Eccles in Lancashire, the combination of flaky pastry and spiced flavoring is super satisfying. These are best enjoyed when warmed in an oven.
This is a large currant bun made of dough which is rolled into a spiral and covered in a glazing. They often have cinnamon butter throughout the spiral too. This delicious, heavy sweet treat originated in Chelsea and is best when eaten warm out of the oven.

]]>No celebration would be complete without cake, and this cupcake recipe by The Banana Diaries is sure to be a hit at any holiday party. With a velvety gingerbread base and a tangy plant-based cream cheese frosting, it’s the perfect balance of sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Santa and his reindeer are guaranteed to enjoy these cookies by Sweet Simple Vegan. Brown sugar, molasses, and warm spices come together to create that gingerbread flavor we know and love–100% dairy-free. We recommend enjoying them fresh out of the oven with a glass of oat milk.
Dessert worlds collide in this scrumptiously festive recipe by Addicted to Dates. A buttery gingerbread crust makes the perfect base for a lightly spiced chocolate ganache filling, while more cookies on top provide a nice crunch. Give it some color with fresh pomegranate seeds and a few rosemary sprigs.

]]>Mochi is a type of Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice that gives the cakes their chewy texture. While not traditionally served with ice cream, modern palettes have led ice cream-filled versions of mochi to become popular in both Japan and the West. This fall, American brand My Mochi released an apple pie-flavored version of the treat made with vanilla ice cream and a gooey apple cinnamon filling. It’s a classic combination, made portable.
We have to admit that we were a bit skeptical about the idea of pumpkin spice-flavored popcorn, but in true Lesser Evil fashion, they made it work. With warming fall spices, organic cane sugar, and a hint of Himalayan Pink Salt, we like to think of this one as kettle corn’s chic older sister—she’s sweet, she’s bold, and we want to be just like her.
As much as we love sweet potato casserole, we’ve never understood who decided that anything that contains marshmallows as a key ingredient should be served as a side dish and not a dessert. While that won’t stop us from inhaling a plateful of the stuff this Thanksgiving, in the meantime, we’re more than happy to enjoy it in the form of Van Leeuwen’s newest plant-based ice cream flavor. Find it at any of their stores, or pick up a pint at your local Walmart.

]]>One of the best ways to level up your at-home cocktails is learning how to properly rim your glasses. Follow these steps, and you’re sure to nail it every time.
Create a mixture of what you want on the rim. This could be salt, spicy pepper, sugar, or a mix of salt and citrus–the possibilities are endless! The more colorful your mixture, the more it will really pop on the cup. Place your mixture in a shallow dish about ¼ inch high.
Put your liquid that will act as the “glue” on another shallow dish. This can simply be water, or you can level up the flavor but using citrus juice or honey.
Once your dipping stations are set up, you’ll first dip the rim of your glass in the liquid. Once it is properly coated, dip it in the granules of your choice. Lift up your cup and see the beauty!
Once the rim has dried, you’re ready to add your cocktail to the glass. Enjoy!

]]>If you’re a nacho fanatic that wants a healthier alternative to processed, store-bought tortilla chips, this is for you.
There are so many different substitutions you can make for regular tortilla chips, but this one not only acts as a healthy substitute; it will also keep you full for longer and add some sweetness to your nachos.
We highly recommend you replace your tortilla chips with sweet potato. Sweet potatoes add fiber and vitamins to your nachos, making it even more acceptable for you to eat them as a meal (and who doesn’t want that?).
All you need to do is slice your sweet potatoes thinly and roast them in the oven (heated to 300 degrees Fahrenheit) with olive oil for about 25 minutes. They should get crispy as long as you spread them out on the pan so that none of them are touching. Once they’re ready, use them as the base of your nachos and pile those toppings as high as your heart desires!

]]>Well, truthfully it depends. For health, safety, and environmental concerns, glass is definitely the way to go. However when you consider budget and convenience, you might lean more towards plastic. Let’s break down the main points so you can decide for yourself.
The truth is, every time you use plastic, the chances of chemicals seeping into your food is pretty high. Especially if you are using plastic with hot food or in the microwave, which could really mess with your hormones.
Glass is completely recyclable, which makes it more environmentally friendly than plastic. Did you know that only a fraction of plastics are actually recyclable?
If you’re taking food to-go, plastic is much more lightweight and compact. It’s also much better for children because it won’t shatter if they drop it.
Glass is much longer-lasting than plastic. As long as you don’t break it, it could essentially last forever without changing shape or staining!
