For melty-cheese lovers everywhere, nachos are a top-tier snack (or meal, if you’d like). Nachos are the perfect combination of crunchy and salty, plus you can load them up with protein and veggies to make it more of a meal.

If you’re a nacho fanatic that wants a healthier alternative to processed, store-bought tortilla chips, this is for you.

There are so many different substitutions you can make for regular tortilla chips, but this one not only acts as a healthy substitute; it will also keep you full for longer and add some sweetness to your nachos.

We highly recommend you replace your tortilla chips with sweet potato. Sweet potatoes add fiber and vitamins to your nachos, making it even more acceptable for you to eat them as a meal (and who doesn’t want that?).

All you need to do is slice your sweet potatoes thinly and roast them in the oven (heated to 300 degrees Fahrenheit) with olive oil for about 25 minutes. They should get crispy as long as you spread them out on the pan so that none of them are touching. Once they’re ready, use them as the base of your nachos and pile those toppings as high as your heart desires!
