Ann Reardon’s New Cookbook Deserves All the Praise It Gets

Food scientist Ann Reardon gained a massive following on YouTube and other social media platforms when she started posting videos debunking online cooking ’hacks’ or bogus recipes. Reardon is an accomplished pastry chef and on her channel she gives many priceless tips and hacks that actually work, traces viewers the secrets to making extravagant cakes, and has eye-popping desserts.

Recently, Reardon published her first book, titled How To Cook That, Crazy Sweet Creations, a nod to the name of her online cooking show. In it fans can find more of what they’re used to getting from Reardon on social media—recipes for original treats and baked goods that tap into pop culture trends, all in her familiar wit, humor, and warmth.

When asked about what prompted her to start her debunking series, Reardon replied, “Cooking is science. Really, it’s not just misinformation. Disinformation is when you know it doesn’t work and you’re putting it out there as if it does. So, that’s disinformation about science for a whole generation coming through who are going to not know how to cook.”
