Dining outside and supporting local businesses has never been this important. In NYC, specifically, it is estimated that as many as 2,800 small businesses had already closed since March 1, a third of which were restaurants and bars. But helping out local businesses can also be a tasty experience.

Take it from Alexa Matthews. A born and raised New Yorker, Matthews considers herself a professional eater and has been featured by CNNMoney, Wall Street JournalCosmopolitan and Zagat, amongst others.

The founder of Eating NYC, her online brand covers restaurants, travel, fitness, and luxury lifestyle around the world, with special focus on NYC eateries and restaurants.

Recent posts include a NYC Outdoor Dining Guide that lists places that are open for business. “My account is all about showing you the latest and greatest in New York,” Matthews explained once in an interview with Just Opened New York, “it’s my duty to be your loyal, trustworthy guide.

“I would always recommend my favorite restaurant in New York—L’Artusi,” she adds. “It’s super cozy, with dim lighting that makes it really romantic. It’s trendy but unpretentious, with great food and service—it really ticks all the boxes. If you go, I recommend the bucatini pasta—it’s the best.”
