TikTok has introduced us to all sorts of food creations over the years. Some were good, others bad, while some were simply outrageous. The deep-fried bacon-wrapped cheese looks like it belongs in the latter category.
It is no secret that Americans love all things deep-fried, cheesy, or with bacon on the side. So, food creator Zach Choi decided to combine all of that into a single dish. And it is quite something.
In a hugely viral video posted on TikTok, which gathered more than 58 million views, Choi can be seen making a huge stack of American cheese slices and puncturing a hole in the middle. He then wraps the cheese with bacon slices.
Next, the bacon-wrapped cheese gets seasoned before being covered in flour, egg wash, and breadcrumbs. Choi then fries it in hot oil until golden brown and delivers a satisfying cross-cut before tasting his creation.
As you might have imagined, Choi’s dish was met with mixed reactions. While some were intrigued by it, others were appalled. The biggest issue that many TikTok users had was that the bacon didn’t seem appropriately cooked.
“Ain’t no way that bacon was cooked,” one user wrote.
“That bacon is still RAWWWWW,” another one added.
