Why You Should Never Buy Yogurt with Fruit Already in It

Yogurt can be a really wonderful way to start your day or to have as a snack in between meals. However, if you’re buying yogurt with fruit in it — whether it’s at the bottom, something you pour in, or fruit-flavored yogurt, which is generally the worst — you might as well be having a candy bar.

These yogurts have much higher rates of sugar, and normally most of it is added in. Instead, if you want a fruity treat without all the hidden sugar that comes with it, here are some options for you.

Fresh Fruit

It’s always better to add in your own fruit to a plain yogurt, for many reasons. One being that you can control what exactly goes in. Also, buying plain yogurt is almost always cheaper anyway, so you’ll probably end up saving money.

Sweet Add-ins

Even if you want to sweeten up your yogurt, it’s always best to do it at home so, again, you can control how much goes into it. A fun way to get your yogurt closer to dessert is to add in some crushed up cookies, cereal, or even just a drizzle of honey and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Even though it’s not the healthiest treat, you’re still getting all the good probiotics and nutrients from the yogurt.
