Eating healthily is one of the hardest things to do if you’re stuck in a routine that’s based around snacks. The truth is that your snacking habits aren’t your fault, rather the result of traditional eating times that are hard to maintain. If you’re unsure what we mean by that, we’re about to explain it more clearly. Here’s why it’s so easy to fill up on snacks.

That Late Noon Stretch

The time between breakfast and lunch isn’t really that long, when you think about it. At least not when you compare it to the long stretch between lunch and dinner. Assuming you eat lunch at around 12 or 1, at dinner at around 6 or 7, there’s generally a very long “noon stretch” that’s hard to get through—especially if you love eating.

Getting from breakfast to lunch isn’t hard, because it’s not that long and you’re still getting settled into the day. But lunch to dinner can be brutal, and this, we believe, is the primary reason why so many people have trouble avoiding snacks during this time.

The first step is recognizing that it’s a system that’s a bit doomed from the start. Only then can you take the proper steps for moving forward, whatever those steps may be.
