Why is Manuka Honey So Popular?

Manuka honey comes from the bees that pollinate the Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium). It’s popular among professional athletes and celebrities because of its incredible properties. From tennis player Novak Djokovic to the Kardashians, everyone’s crazy about Manuka honey. But why?

Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and it’s different from the regular honey. It contains over 2,000 individual natural compounds and has a bigger nutritive value than regular honey, as well as many health benefits.

Some of the health benefits of Manuka honey include anti-inflammatory properties, promoting oral health, cholesterol levels regulation, etc. It’s expensive, but you don’t really need much of it to reap the benefits. Just one or two teaspoons per day is enough. Be careful about the sugar content, though; Manuka honey is a raw and natural source of sugar, but it’s still sugar and diabetics should be careful when using it.
