Mental health is incredibly important, and this is something that we know quite well. So many of us deal with our own internal issues on a daily basis, which is why we’re always looking for something to make us feel better, or even help us grow. In that vein, here’s why we believe that cooking is a great way to improve your mental health.

Escape

Sometimes we just need an escape, and cooking provides that for you. But if you prefer using a less icky word, cooking gives us the opportunity to focus on something outside of ourselves. It’s therapeutic, for it allows us to focus solely on the details of what we need to be doing. Oh yeah, and the intoxicating aroma is pretty darn good for the soul as well.

Accomplishment

But as wonderful as everything tastes and smells, there’s nothing more intoxicating than the feeling of accomplishment. After laboring for hours in a kitchen and tasting the fruits of your labor, it gives one a true sense of happiness.

Fun

More than anything, cooking is fun! And we should certainly approach it that way. Throw on some catchy tunes while getting into the groove, and you’d have a hard time not dancing while mixing up your batters and mixtures.
