Zinc is a crucial mineral for both our physical and mental health. Zinc deficiency is linked to low mood, negative emotions, and lack of energy. You can combat low zinc levels by regularly eating foods that will supply you with the mineral. If you are feeling any of these symptoms, try eating some of these foods.

Red Meat

One of the number one sources of zinc is red meats such as beef, lamb, or pork. In addition to zinc, they are also high in crucial B vitamins and iron. While red meats are an excellent source of zinc, it should be noted that eating excessive quantities of red meat has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease.

Dairy and Eggs

Milk and cheese are high in zinc among other crucial nutrients. Eggs contain zinc, making them a good way to boost your zinc levels if you think you’re deficient.

Shellfish

Shellfish such as oysters are rich in zinc and other minerals. They are quick and easy to eat, although they can be expensive.

Nuts, Seeds and Wholegrain

If you’re vegan, it can harder to get zinc into your diet. Good sources of plant-based zinc are nuts and seeds such as almonds, peanuts and cashews, and wholemeal baked goods.
