They’re made of dehydrated vegetables, vitamins, minerals, and herbs, and they’re supposed to help you get more nutrients found from fruits and vegetables into your diet. But, are they actually healthy? Here’s what you need to know about superfood powders.

The fiber found in fruits and vegetables is completely removed when making superfood powders. Fiber is an essential nutrient for regulating blood sugar, gut health, helping you feel full, and aiding digestion.

Nutrients

Because the vegetables that are used to make superfood powders and processed and dehydrated to ground them into powders, there are fewer nutrients in them. Due to this, other vitamins, minerals, herbs, and sugar substitutes are added to the powders.

Price

Naturally, the cheapest way to get your fruits and veggies in is to eat real ones. These powders can cost more than $75 for a monthly supply, which is much more expensive than fresh produce.

Are They Healthy?

Superfood powders should be used a meal supplement, similar to vitamins, to provide extra nutrients. They should be taken in addition to vegetables, not as a replacement for them.
