Summer is, to a large degree, birthday party season: lots of people have summer birthdays, plus kids are off of school so you can more easily throw daytime parties for your kids and invite their friends. Lots of people also have freer schedules, so it’s a great time to have an adults birthday party too! If you’re wondering what to serve, here are some ideas for your to start with!
Mini Sandwiches
An instant classic and an easy crowd-pleaser, mini- or finger sandwiches are a delicious way to make your table look aesthetically pleasing while also preparing an array of choices that both kids and parents will love. Just make normal sandwiches and cut them up into small triangles, then lay them out nicely!
Barbecue
Who says birthday parties and backyard barbecues have to be two separate events? Grab some meat, vegetables, fish, tofu, or seitan and barbecue it fresh during the party. This way you don’t need to worry about setting up your food beforehand, so it’s one less thing to prepare before guests arrive.
Large-Batch Dishes
If you don’t want to worry about setting up three dozen individual items, try making something that can easily make a lot of food all at once, such as curry, rice, or pasta dish. Then just set it outside in a big aluminum dish with a serving spoon and let people take it for themselves.
