One of the four natural elements of our world, water is in just about everything we eat and drink. That being said, we don’t always know how or where it’s used. That’s why right now we’re going to blow your minds with some fun and quirky ways that water is used that you may not have considered previously. Which of these took you by surprise?

Making Beer

Considering the fact that a long night of drinking beer is usually accompanied by a long hangover, and therefore we don’t usually associate it with the health benefits of water. But apparently, 2,500 ounces of water are required for an 8.5-ounce cup of beer! The main reason is that the water is required to placate the barley during the brewing process.

Making Cellphones

Over 3,000 gallons of water are used to build each cellphone. It seems bizarre to think about, but it’s true nevertheless. Next time you look at your smartphone, drink a shot of H20 to celebrate.

Making Leather

A ridiculous amount of water is also required to make leather, which is ironic because we generally avoid rain like the plague when we’re wearing it. Apparently, a simple pair of leather shoes requires 8,000 gallons of water to make!
