Many of us love bananas because they’re tasty, healthy etc. but not so much of us know that the weird strings on banana are not just for decoration.

It’s not so pleasant to eat them as they hang around and you have a weird feeling like you’re eating a trashy part of banana. But it’s not trashy at all, and it is scientifically called “phloem bundles.”

What are the phloem bundles? Basically, they are a pretty complex tissue that serves as a food and water transportation in a plant. Simply put, the phloem bundles are essential for the bananas and we wouldn’t be enjoying bananas at all if they were not present in them.

Actually, some people never noticed those banana strings, and it’s good for them as they don’t have to think about it too much while eating bananas. All in all, their banana eating experience is not in danger of getting unpleasant.

But even if they find out that there are some creepy things hanging around, there’s really nothing to worry about. Banana strings are as healthy as all the other parts of the banana and they won’t even ruin the taste, especially when you know what’s their role.
