If you don’t know what Kool-Aid pickles are, you have missed out. Combining flavored drink mix Kool-Aid with pickled food has been around for quite a while, but the trend has been recently brought to the spotlight thanks to TikTok.
While Kool-Aid pickles, also known as Koolickles, might not sound like the most appetizing thing, they have a surprisingly large fan base. As it turns out, the Kool-Aid mix turns the pickles into a perfect sweet-and-sour treat that comes in mesmerizing colors as a bonus. And they are surprisingly easy to make.
How to Make Kool-Aid Pickles
In order to make Kool-Aid pickles, you will need a jar of pickles, some sugar, and one Kool-Aid mix package. We recommend going with your favorite Kool-Aid flavor for the first Koolickles batch.
Start off by taking out the pickles from the jar and lining them on a sheet. Then add Kool-Aid mix to the brine alongside a few spoons of sugar. Stir well before returning the pickles to the jar, sealing them, and letting them bathe for a week in the fridge.
If you are working with smaller pickles, then you can also drain the brine juice in a separate container instead of removing the pickles from the jar. Mix the Kool-Aid and sugar into the brine, and then just pour it back in.
