Whether you want to make mac and cheese, nachos, or anything that usually has a cheese sauce, use this vegan version instead! Between the nutritional yeast and the roasted garlic, the flavor of this sauce is bold and really out of this world.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cups of nut milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 5 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric, optional

Instructions

  1. First, start by preheating the oven to 400 F. Drizzle a bit of olive oil onto 5 of the garlic cloves and bake them for 20-25 minutes until soft.
  2. Heat up a pan over medium heat and pour in the olive oil.
  3. While the olive oil is heating up, finely mince the 3 cloves of garlic.
  4. Sautee the garlic in the olive oil until fragrant, and then add in the flour and whisk to incorporate.
  5. Cook the flour for just 1-2 minutes, and then pour in the nut milk and whisk so there are only a few lumps in the sauce.
  6. Cook for 2 minutes and then pour the sauce into a blender with the salt, pepper, roasted garlic, and nutritional yeast until smooth. If you want the sauce to be yellow, add in the turmeric.
  7. Use right away!
